Three weeks jaunting around the American Southwest in our little motorhome, with the challenge of capturing our trip through the fixed 23mm focal length of Fuji's X100t.
There was always something missing in my black and white photos. But here, in this set, something comes alive. After so many years poking at photography, this set suddenly clicked for me.
If it doesn't make sense to "Expose to the Right" with the Fuji X-Trans sensor, what about exposing to the left and "Push" processing?
I almost hate to write this post, as Exposure To The Right (ETTR) is a near religious topic on the inter webs and I don't want to wade into the fan-boy vs. haters mudfest. But I do want to know how ETTR plays out with the unique Fuji X-Trans sensor in the FujiFilm XE-1, and all other Fuji X Series cameras that share this sensor such as the X-Pro 1 and the X-100s.
Do the Fuji X Series cameras have an issue with underexposure and overinflated ISO? It's a common statement, and if true, it would be important to know how to compensate. In the next few posts I'm going to walk through a series of tests that show the ISO ratings and spot metering on the FujiFilm XE-1 are actually quite well calibrated.
